Is there anyone on here still in touch with Doc Sarah? If so, can you ask her about potential complications regarding Covid19/ Arach? Are we as sufferers of AA more likely to get life threatening complications (like Asthma/Diabetes etc sufferers) than a normal healthy person? Obviously there is much even the experts don’t yet know about Covid19 but i thought i’d ask just in case she knew anything.

Regards Kev

Hello kev.
People with arachnoiditis, I can only advise that they follow the current NHS guidelines but if anything I would urge a degree of caution especially during this period when lockdown is being lifted. Any resulting rise in the R number which indicates how rapidly the virus is spreading, or increase in rates of people testing positive, will probably take up to 2 weeks to show. Death rates longer still. So for now, strict social distancing is wise. As regards masks and gloves, these are only helpful if used properly, which often isn't the case. Anyone becoming ill should contact 111 sooner rather than later, especially if they have breathing problems. Obviously those with heart conditions, lung disease or Diabetes will already be aware of the advice about those. However, arachnoiditis brings with it a wide variety of problems so each case needs to be considered individually. Liaise with your GP and don't hesitate to ask for help. If I become aware of useful information I'll let you know. Stay safe ! Xx

Also...Anyone with autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or connective tissue disease who is on steroids and/or drugs like methotrexate should be contacted by their specialists to work out their risk If you don't hear from the hospital, discuss it with your GP.
Take care lots of love and hugs xxx

Hi Ann, hope you’re doing well. Thanks for your reply, unfortunately my GP is clueless when it comes to Arach. Do you ever hear from Doc Sarah? Is she still available for questions?
